Over the course of his 32 years with Cryostar, Bruno has seen the company grow and develop in terms of both size and technology. Bruno first joined the company as a Turbine Assembler in 1988, and has changed jobs several times since then, in a whirlwind of rewarding professional and personal discoveries.
“My first extended business trip was to Thailand. Back then, we didn’t have cell phones and the internet wasn’t very widely used yet, and I also had to deal with the language barrier. It was hard work, especially because of the significant time difference, but what a wonderful life lesson it was!” says Bruno.
He went on to travel all over the world: to the US, the Philippines, Mexico, and more. With each trip came more unique experiences—a boat jump from an offshore drilling platform, a helicopter crash simulation, training with the Naval Firefighters, and more. He was also transferred to the US and China at various times in his career, adding to his incredible experiences around the globe. Bruno learned a huge amount in the field, because each machine responds differently depending on its technical specifications and how it is used. Because Cryostar offers personalized solutions to its clients, each project presents a new and fascinating challenge. These challenges still excite him today, and given his near-encyclopedic knowledge of mechanics, Bruno is now passionate about sharing his knowledge and expertise with his colleagues.
During his 32 years with Cryostar, Bruno has held several different job titles. First, he was a Mechanic, then Assistant Manager of Turbine production, followed by Manager of Production and Test Pumps. Later, after the creation of the Supply Chain department in 2011, he was put in charge of the new scheduling department. In 2019, the Supply Chain department was restructured and Bruno took over management of the Store teams and became the Manager of Operations and Logistics, a position that requires a solid team, no matter the size of the company!
Bruno, is there anything else you would like to add? “Yes. My vision as a manager today is based on 3 main elements: delegating tasks, making people aware of their responsibilities, and building trust.” Bruno believes that a participatory, collaborative style of management is the key to the success of any company, on a human level. By listening to, relying on, and keeping your team involved, you will build a solid team that functions like a well-oiled machine. Agile techniques are essential in the companies of today, enabling us to showcase the talents of each individual.
